Presented by Vanessa A. Simmons, Founder & CEO at Normalize Breastfeeding

Prior to the Normalize Breastfeeding Tour, images of breastfeeding on the internet were primarily caucasian. The purpose of the tour was to document diversity across cultures and delivery methods of breast milk.

Ghanaian-American mother of 3, Vanessa Simmons, had a clear vision of documenting the truth of what breastfeeding looked like in the United States. She refused to believe the myth that black women did not breastfeed, especially after discovering their awful history as wet nurses during slavery.
